Malaysia Must Beat India - Sports Minister

KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 (Bernama) -- Malaysia need to stay focused and beat India in the quarter-final of the World Hockey League (WHL) 2015 in Antwerp, Belgium. Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the 'Speedy Tigers' must apply a strong discipline and passion to ensure victory for Malaysia. "We are all waiting the hockey match with bated breath. Malaysia had struggled a bit but they played well. "I hope they play hard for a win to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil," he told reporters here, Monday night. Malaysia recorded two wins namely against China (3-2) and Ireland (4-2) and two defeats, namely to Belgium (0-2) and Great Britain (1-3) in Group B matches. Malaysia, ranked 12th in the world, are to play India, ranked ninth in the world on July 1 after finishing third in Group B with six points. The national hockey squad have to finish in the top three in the tournament to qualify for 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. --BERNAMA
