Malaysia Secures Bronze In Badminton Asia Junior Tournament

KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 (Bernama) -- Malaysia only managed to secure a bronze medal after losing 0-3 to Japan in the semi-finals of the mixed team event at the Badminton Asia Junior Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia, Monday. Hosts Indonesia also got a bronze medal after they were beaten 1-3 by China in the other semi-final tie at the Jaya Raya Sports Hall Training Centre, according to Badminton Asia website;www.badmintonasia.org. China, who are seven-time winners, will meet Japan in the final Tuesday. In Monday’s action, Japan took the lead after Hiroki Midorikawa-Saito Natsu beat Chia Wei Jie-Toh Ee Wei 21-16 and 21-15 in the mixed doubles. They took a 2-0 lead through Kato Taiki who defeated Ng Tze Yong, winning in 21-13, 23-25 and 24-22 in the boys singles before Hiroki Midorikawa-Hiroki Nakayama sealed the final spot for Japan after securing a 21-17 and 21-14 win against Chang Yee Jun-Chua Yue Chern in the boys doubles.
