Malaysia Suffer Another Loss At Darwin International Hockey Open

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Tigers suffered another loss at the Darwin International Hockey Open at the Marrara Hockey Centre in Darwin, Australia, Friday. This time, they were defeated 2-3 by the world number two team, Argentina. On Sept 18, the national team lost 2-5 to world champion, Australia in the opening match. In Friday’s match, Muhammad Haziq Samsul put Malaysia in the lead through a field goal in the 9th minute, before Tomas Domene equalised with a penalty corner shot in the 33rd minute. Mohd Fitri Saari scored the second goal for Malaysia through a penalty stroke in the 51st minute, but Martin Ferreiro scored another equaliser for just a minute later. The winning goal for Argentina came through a penalty corner shot by Pedro Ibarra at the final minute of the game, marking the third consecutive wins for the Olympic champion. In another match, host Australia beat Japan 3-0, to meet Argentina in the final. -- BERNAMA
