Malaysia Whip Brunei 6-1 To Clinch Futsal Gold In ACSG 2015

SHAH ALAM (Selangor, Malaysia), Nov 19 (Bernama) -- Malaysia whipped Brunei 6-1 to clinch the ASEAN Civil Service Games (ACSG 2015) futsal gold medal at the Triways Sports Centre, here Thursday. The gold, Malaysia's seventh in the ACSG, also sealed the overall title for Malaysia since only 12 gold medals are offered in the five sports contested in the games that features countries from ASEAN. In Thursday's final, Mohd Faisal Saharudin put Malaysia in the driving seat as early as the second minute before adding his second in the 17th minute for a 2-0 first half lead. In the second half, Malaysia added four more goals before Brunei scored a consolation goal in the final minutes of the match. Malaysian coach Zainal Zolkefri when met after the match said he was happy with the performance of his boys because they were able to beat Brunei twice in the competition - once in the preliminaries and again in the final - although Brunei was a strong side. Zainal said the team had very little time to prepare but with strong commitment and discipline, the players managed to triumph. Meanwhile, Mohd Faisal was also crowned with the top scorer award in the games after scoring 13 goals throughout the competition. -- BERNAMA
