Malaysian Diving Pair Settle For Seventh Place At WAC

KUALA LUMPUR, July 28 (Bernama) -- Malaysian diving pair, Pandelela Rinong Pamg and Leong Mun Yee could not sustain their brilliant start in the qualifying round in the finals of the 2015 World Aquatic Championship (WAC) in Kazan, Russia on Monday. Pandelela Rinong and Mun Yee could only muster seventh spot in the women's synchronised diving 10m platform event at Aquatic Palace. According to the championship's official website, they started well in the first two jumps to be at fifth place and went up to third place after the third jump. Unfortunately, luck was not on their side when they received 51.84 points in fourth jump which caused them to fall to seventh place out of 12 participating pairs. However, Pandelela Rinong-Mun Yee recovered in the final jump with 77.76 points, their third best of five jumps. The national diving duo collected 303.60 points, 55.92 points behind gold medallist, Chen Roulin-Liu Huixia of China who garnered 359.52 points. Meanwhile, Meaghan Benfeito-Roseline Filion (Canada) and Kim Un Hyang-Song Nam Hyang (North Korea) clinched the silver and bronze medals respectively with 339.99 and 325.26 points. --BERNAMA
