Malaysian Pandelela Rinong Qualifies For Rio Olympics

KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 (Bernama) -- Malaysian diving queen Pandelela Rinong Pamg qualified for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics after making it to finals of the women's individual 10m platform event at the World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia. In the semifinals on Thursday, Pandelela finished in eighth place out of 18 divers after collecting 338.10 points. According to the meet's official website www.kazan2015.com, Chinese divers dominated the semis with Ren Qian and Si Yajie coming tops with 423.15 and 395.75 points respectively. Kim Kuk Hyang of South Korea emerged third with 379.90 points while another Malaysian, Nur Dhabitah Sabri, had to be contented with 14th place after amassing only 316.40 points. The finals will be held at 7.30pm (local time)on Thursday (midnight Friday Malaysian time). --BERNAMA
