Malaysia's first footgolf team to participate in asia cup

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 16 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's first FootGolf team is set to compete in the 2019 Yamaha FootGolf Asia Cup at the Horizons Golf Resort in Port Stephens, Australia, from Nov 18 to 22. National men's team captain Jeffrey Dean Abdul Daud @ Cottam and women's captain Steffi Sidhu @ Sarge Kaur, will lead the challenge through the individual and team events in the men's, women's and senior's categories. Jeffrey Dean said the participation of the national team in the Asia Cup was a stepping stone to achieving the goal of participating in the FootGolf World Cup in Japan next year. “This is an exciting moment for us, as from the time we began a short while back, our goal was to participate in the FootGolf World Cup. “Therefore, the Asian Cup is a starting point and a stepping stone for us to reach that goal. We are aiming for the top three,” he said in a statement released by FootGolf Malaysia Friday. The statement said the national squad would be putting up against teams from Japan, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand. FootGolf is a combination of football and golf, where the rules of the game are similar to golf. The goal is to kick a size five ball into the hole (53 cm or 21 inches in diameter) in the fewest number of kicks. -- BERNAMA
