Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team Crowned 2015 World Constructors' Champion

KUALA LUMPUR, 13 Oct (Bernama) -- The Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team has secured the 2015 FIA Formula One World Constructors' Championship at the Russian Grand Prix. The 2015 title is the second consecutive Constructors' title for the team and Petronas following Lewis Hamilton's win and the team's 12th victory of the season on Sunday. Petronas President and Group Chief Executive Datuk Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin in a statement said the national petroleum corporation was proud of its partnership with the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team. "It is an honour to partner a team that shares our desire and passion for winning on the track as we work towards our vision to be leading innovators in automotive engine oil development. "As the title partner and in our role as a technical partner for the team, Petronas has continuously been at the forefront of innovation, developing Fluid Technology Solutions that meet the demands of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg," he said. Wan Zulkiflee added that Petronas was looking forward to challenging for further honours with the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team in 2016. He said that Hamilton remains on course to make the win a double celebration, as he continues to lead the Drivers' Championship. Hamilton, on 302 points following his first place finish in Sochi Autodrom, now has an advantage of 66 points over second placed Sebastian Vettel of Scuderia Ferrari, while Rosberg is third in the standings with 229 points. The partnership between Petronas and Mercedes-Benz dates back to 2010. Petronas and Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team collaborated to co-engineer a brand new range of customised fuel and lubricants that have provided a competitive edge in securing FIA F1 World Constructors' Championship for two consecutive years. -- BERNAMA
