The Ministry of Culture and Sports Signs Management and Operating Contract for "Lusail" and "Al-Attiyah" Sports Arenas

Doha, July 24 (QNA) -The Ministry of Culture and Sports on Sunday signed a Management and Operating Contract of Lusail and Ali bin Hamad Al Attiyah Multi-purpose sports arenas with the joint venture of Qatar's Elan Group and US Life Nation company. The contract was signed on behalf of the Ministry of Culture and Sports by Director of the Department of Finance and Administration, Fahd Al Mass, for Elan Group by Group Chief Executive Officer, Jaber Al Ansari, and on behalf of US Life Nation Company by its representative, Marc Sachan. This contract comes within the framework of the Ministry's strategy towards the most suitable investment for all sports facilities, and to offer an opportunity to the private sector to manage and operate these facilities efficiently and bring more benefits for the Qatari society. The Director of Assets Management and Projects at the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Abdul Rahman Abdullah Al-Malki, stated that engaging the private sector comes affirms the State's support for the private sector's participation in national development. He stressed that the development of the sports sector is a strategic goal for the Ministry to improve sports environment, culture, practice, professionalism and infrastructure in order to enhance the country's status as the capital of sports in the world, especially with regard the 2022 FIFA World Cup requirements. In this context, he noted that a joint committee was formed from various government agencies responsible for events. This committee includes representatives from the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Aspire Zone, the and Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and the Ministry of Interior along with representatives of other authorities. He also pointed out that the partnership agreement will run for two years and can be extended for 3 additional years. For his part, Elan Group Chief Executive Officer, Jaber Al Ansari, said that Lusail and Ali bin Hamad Al Attiyah Multi-purpose sports arenas are two of the best halls in the region, expressing pleasure that the Ministry of Culture and Sports placed its trust in the Elan alliance and Live Nation to manage them. He also added in a statement that "our aim is to provide the most exclusive and innovative entertainment experiences in the region, and we are confident that our vast experience in the field and Live Nation's experience in the events industry will result in more entertainment outstanding activities in the State of Qatar." Taking advantage of these Halls will enrich the events schedule in Qatar by hosting the biggest domestic, athletic, musical and entertainment shows, along with other live events and new entertainment experiences. After the World Handball Championship, the Ministry of Culture and Sports formed a team representatives from the (Ministry of Youth and Sports at the time), the Ministry of Economy and Commerce and the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, in an effort to find ways to take advantage of the halls in an optimal manner.
