Mongolia dominates in Chinggis Khaan Grand Prix

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ One of the events included in the International Judo Federation’s (IJF) calendar, the Chinggis Khaan Grand Prix tournament took place on July 1-3 at the “Buyant-Ukhaa” sports complex. This year’s Grand Prix was attended by 134 judokas from 13 countries who competed in the men’s and women’s 14 weight categories. Mongolia led the tournament by seizing nine gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze medals. Japan grabbed two gold, Azerbaijan, Russia and Cuba--one gold each. M.Urantstetseg, 2013 World champion of Mongolia claimed gold medal in the women’s lightest weight division contest, while Idalys Ortiz, Olympic champion and twice-world champion Idalys Ortiz of Cuba became winner in the women’s heaviest category.
