Mongolian wrestlers capture nine medals in "Mongolia Open-2015"

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The "Mongolia Open" annual "A" class international tournament took place March 28-29 at the "Buyant-Ukhaa" sports complex in Ulaanbaatar. This year’s events attracted 151 wrestlers from Mongolia, Russia, China, South Korea, Japan, the USA, France, Germany, Poland, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Brazil, who competed in the men 57, 61, 65, 70, 74, 86, 97, 125; women 48, 53, 55, 58, 60, 63, 69 and 75 kg divisions. A world champion and Olympic bronze medalist S.Battsetseg won the Mongolia Open third time in the women 63kg, whereas T.Monkhtuya, D.Gombodorj, P.Orkhon and B.Nemekhbayar grabbed gold medals twice. E.Bekhbayar, D.Khuderbulga and D.Otgontsetseg became winners of the Mongolia Open for the first time. Our national team took the first place in the tournament, winning nine gold medals. Mongolia was followed by the USA, Russia and Kazakhstan, who grabbed two gold medals each. A gold medalist of each weight category received a cash prize of USD 1,000, the runner-up--USD 800, and the bronze medalist--USD 500. Wrestlers of Mongolia’s national team will take part in the 2015 Wrestling World Cup to be held this April in Los Angeles, the USA, in the Asian Championships--this May in Qatar; in Youth Championships--this August in Brazil, and in the FILA World Championships--this September in Las Vegas, the USA.
