Nasser bin Hamad hails endurance achievement

Dubai, Feb19(BNA) Raed Mahmood placed fifth in the Fourth "Jameelti" Endurance Race Championship in Dubai for 120km, held at Dubai International Endurance Village. The participation of Mahmood came under the directives of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad, leader of the Bahrain Royal Endurance Team, was keen to follow up Mahmood’s participation in this event, which been held for the fourth consecutive year with the directives of Dubai Crown Prince and Dubai Sports Council President Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. A total of 150 riders took part in the event which consisted of four stages: the first stage with yellow flags was set for 40km, the second stage with red flags was set for 30km, the third stage with green flags was set for 30km and the fourth and last stage with white flags was set for 20km. Mahmood finished the entire race in a total time of 4:36:46 hours with a speed average 26km. He completed the first stage in a total time of 1:27:13 hours, and he completed the second stage in a total time of 1.09.57 hours, while the third stage he completed in 1:19:37 hours, and the last stage was completed in total time of 36.59 minutes. The race was won by Ali Khafan who completed the event in a total time of 4:29:08 hours. In second place was Saif Ahmed who completed the race in a total time of 4:30:29 hours, while third place was won by Sheikh Hasher bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, who completed the race in a total time of 4:31:06 hours. Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad expressed his deep appreciation to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid for following up all the regulatory procedures for the race. Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad stressed that the race was strong in every sense of the word, where the competition was exciting with the convergence of the results of riders and change positions from one stage to another. Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad said that the participation of the Royal Endurance Team was good in this race, stressing that the aim of their participation is not to achieve advanced positions as much as to ensure and contribute to the success of this race, which involved groups of riders from across the region.
