National futsal team en route to Uzbekistan

TEHRAN, Feb. 06 (MNA) – A see-off ceremony for the Iranian national futsal team to participate in 2016 AFC Futsal Championship will be held in Tehran on Saturday afternoon. The ceremony will take place in Tehran’s Football Academy Hotel and will be attended by Ali Kafashian, President of the Iranian Football Federation. On the sidelines of the see-off ceremony, the best teams and the top scorer of Iran’s futsal Premier League will be commended. The draw for the final tournament was held on 2 December 2015 Tashkent and the 16 teams were drawn into four groups of four teams where Iran has been drawn into Group B with Iraq, China and Jordan. Meanwhile, the competitions committee has announced the names of 16 referees to judge the event while Vahid Arzpeima remains as the only Iranian name on the list though countries like Japan, China and Iraq will each have two referees in the tournament. The Iranian squad had previously claimed the title at China’s four-nation tournament which convened in the city of Changshu on December 18-21, 2015. The 2016 AFC Futsal Championship will be the 14th edition of the AFC Futsal Championship, and be staged in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, between February 10 and 21.
