Nicol, Wee Wern Cruise Into Quarter-Finals Of US Squash Open

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 (Bernama) -- Malaysian squash queen, Nicol David and national number two player, Low Wee Wern moved into the last eight of the 2014 United States Open held at Drexel University in Philadelphia. The world number Nicol who is gunning for her third consecutive US Open title, only took 28 minutes to despatch off Australian Rachael Grinham with a 11-1, 11-8 and 11-3 victory in the second round match played at ASB Glass Court late Monday. For the record, the 31-year old Penangite won the US Open in 2012 and 2013. "Rachael and I have played so many times, she’s so experienced and tricky, you have to have plans A, B and C ready against her! I knew I had to be totally focused, and I was really pleased with my performance today (Tuesday).”,Nicol was quoted as saying in the tournament's website www.ussquashopen.com. Sixth seed, Wee Wern on the other hand was forced to play four sets before emerging victorious against Nicolette Fernandes of Guyana, She defeated Fernandes 11-8, 11-7, 5-11 and 11-3 in a 61-minute match. "I was really struggling at the start. I just couldn’t see the ball or find any length.I was struggling through all the games really.
