No Necessity For Mike Morgan To Come To Malaysia - Minister

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), Nov 13 (Bernama) -- There is no necessity for top sports lawyer Mike Morgan, who will be mitigating Lee Chong Wei's doping case, to come to Malaysia although the date for the case is fast approaching. Malaysian Youth and Sports minister Khairy Jamaludin said the renown lawyer was constantly in contact with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) to find out about the progress of the case. "I was informed that all the information that Mike Morgan requires is being gathered by the BAM and National Sports Institute (ISN). "...for the time being there is no necessity for him (Morgan) to be here in person," he told reporters when asked if the founder of Morgan Sports Law LLP which is based in London, was coming to Malaysia to meet the BAM. Khairy had earlier witnessed the signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Youth and Sport ITE Education Services, Singapore. Malaysia's badminton icon and world number one, Chong Wei, was reported to have failed a random dope test during the World Badminton Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark in August. Chong Wei was implicated in a doping scandal after traces of dexamethasone were reportedly found in his urine sample during the random test conducted at the World Championships. The world number one has since been suspended by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) pending a hearing. --BERNAMA
