NOOR AL HAWA Wins HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Thani Trophy

Doha, December 27 (QNA) - Al Wasmiyah Farm's NOOR AL HAWA (Makfi x Majestic Roi) raced to his second victory in a row when the Georges Mikhalides-trained horse topped the HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Thani Trophy (QA GR2) (3YO & OLDER THOROUGHBREDS (Class 1)) at Al Rayyan Park on Thursday. The 6yo had picked up a Listed victory earlier this month and returned to the turf under Adrie de Vries for the 2000m feature to pick up a fantastic victory over last year's Qatar Derby winner FULL MOON (Declaration Of War x Dowager), ridden by Ryan Curatolo for trainer Deborah Amanda Clare Mountain, by a length and a quarter. THE BLUE EYE (Dubawi x Soneva) completed the top three under Champion Jockey Harry Bentley for Champion Trainer Gassim Mohammad Ghazali. Al Shahania Stud's AALEY AL MAGAM (Amer x Abigaille) had struggled in his last few outings around Al Rayyan Park but on Thursday, the Al Shahania Stud-owned horse was right where he needed to be. In the JAAFER CUP (LOCAL PUREBRED ARABIANS), Julian Colin Smart's ward was helmed by Tomas Lukasek and the 7yo continued his impressive run of results in the 2000m race, having finished third last year and runner up the year before, with a one and a half length victory. The win was the second on the day for the colours, the trainer and the jockey. Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki's SHAMAN BU THAILA (Soviet Secret x Picnic Party) ended last season with four victories including a hat-trick, but had gone without a victory from three races so far this season. On Thursday, in the GAZWAN LOCAL THOROUGHBRED CONDITIONS, the 5yo changed that with Anas Al Seyabi in the saddle. Al Seyabi, riding the horse for the first time, guided him to a fine one and a half length victory. Ronan Thomas rode his second winner of the day when he helmed Mubarak Bin Saeed Aljafai Al Naimi's QATAR DANCE (Zebedee x Esterlina) to victory on Thursday. In the ASSY THOROUGHBREDS (FILLIES & MARES) (CLASS 4), the Majed Mahadi Seifeddine-trained mare beat the Luca Maniezzi-ridden AMENABLE by a length and a quarter to register a victory in a little over a year. Saleh Salem Al Marri led a one-two for Qatari jockeys in the MEBROUK THOROUGHBRED HANDICAP (CLASS 4) (Div 2) (80 & below) on Thursday. The jockey helmed Rashid Mohammed Alathba's HAKEEM (Wootton Bassett x Diamond Star) to a fine one length victory in the mile-long race with Ali Khalid Al Mosallam guiding Salem Fadgam Al Hajri & Sons' HOLY ROMAN PRINCE to second place. Meteb Ali al-Marri was astride the fourth placed QATAR WEAVE. Sheail Bin Khalifa Al Kuwari's SAM LANGFORD (Footstepsinthesand x The Silver Kebaya) was not disgraceful 11 days ago when on Qatar debut the gelding finished just outside top five. On Thursday, the Gassim Mohammad Ghazali-trained 3yo picked up his second victory over a mile when Harry Bentley helmed him to a close head-win in the EBRAZ THOROUGHBRED HANDICAP (CLASS 4) (Div1) (80 & below). HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani's AL WANNAH (Burning Sand x Massroura) registered her third victory of the calendar year when she topped the DJENDEL LOCAL PUREBRED ARABIAN GRADUATION PLATE. In the seven-furlong run, the Julian Colin Smart-trained filly had Tomas Lukasek for company and the two won a fantastic duel with the Alexander Reznikov-ridden AJS Jamra by a short head. Umm Qarn's CHAMEKH (Munjiz x Al Dahma) finished just outside the top five earlier this month and took that momentum into Thursday's MARED AL SAHRA PUREBRED ARABIAN MAIDEN PLATE to shed his maiden status in a thrilling race. In a blanket finish of the 2000m race, Alban Elie Marie de Mieulle's ward was ridden to a neck victory by Ronan Thomas as the 4yo colt entered the winner's circle on only his second outing. She may have been out of depth last time around in the Qatar Derby five days ago, but Al Jeryan Stud's AJS HAMAYEM (AF AlBahar x Kamin) made it to the winner's circle for the first time in her career in the ASRAA MIN ALBARQ PUREBRED ARABIAN MAIDEN PLATE on Thursday. Running her shortest distance so far at seven furlongs, Hadi Nasser Rashid Al Ramzani's ward won a close one under Ivan Rossi, winning with half a length to spare at the post. (QNA)
