Preparations for Nasser 8 continue

Manama, June 1 (BNA): Teams taking part in the Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Sports Games (Nasser8) are stepping up their preparations. The tournament is held under the patronage of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee. It kicks off at Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town on Thursday, with exciting matches in the first group that will include title holder Victorious, Fast Link, Majestic Car Showroom and Al Wehda. The following three days will witness two matches a day in each group. On Friday, Al Zilzal meets Al Fakhar, while Ahlam Batelco plays Al Zaeem in the second match at 8:30 pm. Playing in the third group will be Al Maseef, who will play Al Ameed on Saturday, while Forever and Nomas play in the same group on the same day. On the 7th of June, the fourth group’s matches will be held between Al Nawayef and Gunners United, followed by a match between Cobra and United Youth. Following the lead of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Forever football team returns to the competition with a new lineup of players. The team is undergoing extensive training under the supervision of National Coach Salah Habib, who announced that the team participates in Nasser8 with a new formation that includes 80% of new players, as directed by HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa to structure a youth-based team to take part in Nasser8. Forever Deputy Manager Mahmood Ismail said the team contracted with two professional players. He confirmed that the team will spare no effort in competing for the title of championship, adding that HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Ramadan Football Championship has been among main football tournaments in the region and a perfect opportunity to discover new young football talents. Ismail praised HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his support to the team. On the other hand, Al Ameed Team Manager Mahmood Al Nuaimi said players’ preparations are smoothly continuing, following Coach Marzooq Al Jaleel, who is focusing on improving players’ physic, fitness and technical levels. Al Nuaimi stressed on the team’s keenness to achieve good results in the championship. He announced that the team is currently taking part in the Shura and Representatives Councils football tournament, which comes within the team’s preparation for Nasser8. The team recently completed four contracts with two Arab professional footballers and two residents. The organising committees stated that final preparations to hold the championship are completed. Nasser8 Media Committee announced that the events of the championship will be covered by national television, press and social media. It was earlier confirmed that several channels on social media sites were allocated to cover the championship, including @nasser8.bh, @nasserfootball and @alhakam_bh on Instagram and Twitter, in addition to BahrainFA on YouTube.
