PRSI Eyeing Medals In 2017 Sea Games

JAKARTA, Jan 12 (Antara) - Indonesian Swimming Association Executive Board (PB PRSI) will strive to grab medals in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games which will take place at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from August 19 to 31, 2017. "In the short term our target is the SEA Games, we have to be smart by selecting the appropriate sports (swimming)," PRSI general chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie stated here on Wednesday. Setting the target is important because at the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore, Indonesia only gained one gold medal, compared to the previous SEA Games where the country's swimmers obtained five to six gold medals, he explained. "Thus, we will select in which sport of (swimming) we will be able to eye the gold medals," he stated. He, however, declined to say how many gold medals already set in the target. "I dare not say what the target is, but I can say more than one. The sports (swimming) cannot be determined," Bakrie pointed out. In the meantime, a number of national swimmers are currently undergoing training in Bali, five or six of them will be sent abroad to intensify their training.
