Qatar 2015 Launches 'Go Fahed' Game for Smartphones

Doha, December 25 (QNA) - The Qatar 2015 Organising Committee has launched 'Go Fahed', a virtual game for smartphones that can be downloaded for free using iOS or Google Play. 'Go Fahed' is a race across the 24 countries participating in the 24th Men's Handball World Championship and players journey with the game's official mascot Fahed, as he makes his way to the championship's host nation Qatar. The exciting multi-player gaming app allows people to choose their avatars from a range of 6 characters from around the world. Players can compete against each other by running and jumping their way through the 24 levels of the game as they also discover amazing landmarks in each of the countries. Sheikha Asma Al-Thani, Head of Marketing Section, Qatar 2015 Organising Committee said: "On his mission to spread awareness about the sport of handball, Fahed has had quite a journey so far and we were keen to invite others to share his experience. The game is a fun way to interact with other players internationally as it gives people the chance to virtually explore each of the participating countries as they race to the finish." She further added, "As a mascot, Fahed brings a sense of energy and enthusiasm to the people. He has already made a huge impact through his interactions and participation at several events. Through a series of activities and programmes, Fahed has helped popularise handball and also he encouraged people to live healthier and more active lifestyles. The online game gives us an opportunity to introduce him and his values to a more international audience and we are excited about the launch of this app." The app is the second large-scale game to be produced in Qatar and players stand a chance to win official merchandise of the 24th Mens Handball World Championship.
