Qatar 2015 Security Chief Hails Cooperation of Fans

Doha, January 29 (QNA) - The main objective of the security plan for the Handball World Championship was the safety of participants and spectators as well as state guests and facilities, said Brigadier General Ali Mohammed Al Rashed, head of the tournament's security committee, adding that the plan was based on cooperation and coordination between security and civil entities. Al Rashed said the plan was very good except for some violations due to failing to follow security instructions by some fans and other entities, praising the majority of fans for complying with security instructions although they come different backgrounds, cultures and age groups. He noted that all security plans for previous sports events held in Doha and future ones take into consideration standards that will be in place during the 2022 World Cup. Al Rashed hailed the directives of the country's wise leadership, which were key in being recognized with international certificates of appreciation in several events previously. He also pointed to the automated system for issuing visas, a procedure that Qatar pioneered in on the Arab and international fronts, which, among other measures, were introduced to ensure the safety and security of the tournament.
