Qatar Athlete Wins Gold Medal in Men's 100 Meters at Asian Games

Incheon, September 28 (QNA) - Qatar's Femi Ogunode became the fastest man in Asia when he broke the continent's record to win gold in the men's 100 meters at the Asian Games on Sunday. Ogunode overcame a slow start to clock 9.93 seconds in rainy conditions, eclipsing the previous Asian mark of 9.99 seconds held by fellow Qatari Samuel Adelebari Francis. "I had a feeling that I would break the Asian record and I promise I'll win more gold medals here," said Ogunode, who won the 200m and 400m double at the last Asian Games in 2010. Su Bingtian of China was in a distant second place in 10.10 seconds, and Japan's Kei Takase won bronze in 10.15. Zhang Peimeng finished a disappointing fourth in 10.18. (QNA)
