Qatar Embassies Celebrate Sports Day all Over The World

Doha, February 09 (QNA) - Qatar embassies all over the world celebrated Qatar National Sports Day (QNSD), observed on Tuesday in the second week of February every year. Qatar's embassy in Washington DC, US, celebrated the QNSD jointly with DC Scores, a non-profit organization that inspires students to lead healthy lives by engaging in soccer, poetry and make a difference to their communities. Qatar diplomats and embassy staff participated in sports events along with 150 students from eight different school. They played a football match and creative activities for younger children like face-painting. The staff presented souvenir and the State of Qatar emblem to the students. HE the Consul General of the State of Qatar in Houston Mohammed bin Ahmed Hamid led QNSD celebrations by organizing several sports events like football, basketball, volleyball tennis matches. Many citizens from Qatar in Houston participated in the sports events. Expressing their joy, some participants said such events which promote sports for people's physical and mental health must be encouraged. The Embassy of Qatar in the People's Republic of China observed Qatar National Sports Day (QNSD) led by HE the Ambassador Sultan Bin Salmeen Al Mansouri at Chao Yan Olympic Park in the capital city of Beijing. Diplomats, embassy staff and their families and Qatari students studying in Chinese universities participated in the sports day activities. In his message, Ambassador Al Mansouri stressed the importance of sports and its role in building a healthy and cohesive society. Various games were organised to mark this day in Beijing. In Tbilisi, the Embassy of the State of Qatar to Georgia too organized various activities to observe QNSD. Members of the diplomatic corps and embassy staff and their families participated in the events. Qatar's Ambassador to the Republic of South Korea HE Mohammed bin Abdulla Alduhaimi led the sports activities lined-up for the QNSD. Ambassadors representing the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Arab diplomats, Qatar embassy staff and Qatari residents in South Korea and local people participated in the football, basketball, volleyball and badminton. In turn, Qatar's embassy in the UAE has organized a sports day for the embassy members of diplomats and domestic staff in the presence and participation of HE Qatar's Ambassador to the UAE Hadi bin Nassir Al Hajri. HE the ambassador, diplomats and staff practiced skeet shooting at Al Forsan International Sports Resort in Abu Dhabi in an activity that added entertainment and action to the atmosphere. HE Ambassador Al Hajri said the embassy prepared for the day in line with the wise vision of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in encouraging sport and promoting awareness of its significance and role in the lives of individuals and the society as a way of healthy and proper life. He added that the embassy is keen on taking part in this occasion that takes place for the fifth consecutive year and highlights Qatar's interest in promoting sports culture and creating a healthy and strong society, enhancing public health and encouraging proper health lifestyles. Meanwhile, Qatar's embassy in Kyrgyzstan celebrated the National Sports Day by organizing a number of sports events and activities with the participation of HE Qatar's Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Mohamed Arar Al Nuaimi and diplomats and embassy staff. The activities included football and tennis games as well as walking, running and aerobics. In Thailand, Qatar's embassy, jointly with the Sport Authority of Thailand, organized a national Sports Day event at Stadium Huamark, featuring track race, racquetball and concluded with a football game between two teams from the embassy and the Sport Authority of Thailand. HE Qatar's Ambassador to Thailand Jabr bin Ali Al Dosseri handed out memorial awards to the winning teams. Diplomats, embassy employees, medical office, the regional office of Qatargas, Qatar Airways Thailand bureau took part in the event along with a number of Qatari citizens and ambassadors of Oman and Bahrain to Thailand. Qatar's embassy in Djibouti celebrated the National Sports Day by organizing a walking session in Djibouti Corniche and Haramous district in the capital. Acting Charge d'Affaires Nassir bin Khamis Ali Al Mansouri and Diplomatic Attache Issa Mohammed Abdulla Al Kubaisi supervised the event with the participation of all embassy staff. In Hanoi, Qatar's embassy to Vietnam organized a sporting event to mark the National Sports Day in which embassy staff took part along with a wide participation of Vietnamese people in the competitions that were held. The Qatari embassy in Kenya organized a similar event to celebrate the National Sports Day. In Jeddah, Qatar's consulate also held a celebration to mark the National Sports Day. Meanwhile, Qatar's embassy in Tajikistan organized a sporting event to celebrate the National Sports Day in which embassy staff and citizens took part. Speaking at the event, HE Qatar's Ambassador to Tajikistan Ali bin Mubarak Al Mohannadi said sport is the universal language that all world peoples speak and understand, noting that all religions encourage exercising it and modern medicine proved its significance and role as a cure for many diseases. He noted that Qatar was keen on celebrating that day in line with its National Vision 2030, in which one of the main pillars is taking care of the individual and the wellbeing of the Qatari citizen, adding that being awarded the hosting rights of the 2022 World Cup is a significant event that requires everyone to work hard and dedicating a day to sports was an indication of the importance of the showpiece across the country. In Dubai, Qatar's consulate in Dubai and the northern emirates organized varied sports activities at Al Wasl Club in the presence of diplomats and embassy staff as well as some club officials. In turn, Qatar's embassy in Cyprus organized a sporting event to mark the National Sports Day, featuring a football game in which embassy members and staff took part. After that, HE Qatar's Ambassador to Cyprus Hussein bin Ahmed Al Humaid took a two-kilometer walk along with embassy members and then a basketball game was held before participants had a healthy breakfast at the end of the celebration. Speaking on the sidelines of the event, HE the ambassador said dedicating a day to sports promotes the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 and reiterates the state's keenness on motivating the people and residents to practice and reflects the wise vision of the wise leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in encouraging the exercise of sports and raising awareness of its importance and role in the lives of individuals and the society. Meanwhile, Qatar's embassy in Dhaka celebrated the National Sports Day by organizing a set of exercises in which HE Qatar's Ambassador to Bangladesh Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Duhaimi took part along with members of the diplomatic mission, embassy staff and Qatar Charity employees. HE the ambassador said holding the event goes in line with the initiative that was launched with support of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to dedicate a national day for sport as a reiteration of the attention the state pays to sport as a strategic tool in the achievement of Qatar National Vision 2030. In Pakistan, Qatar's embassy marked the National Sports Day through a number of sporting activities with the participation of Acting Charge d'Affaires Massoud Taleb Al Athba. Held at the premises of the diplomatic mission's head, the celebration featured competitions in group sports such as football and running. Qatar's embassy in Mogadishu also celebrated the National Sports Day with various sporting activities in which Acting Charge d'Affaires Hassan bin Hamza Assad took part along with embassy staff. In addition, Qatar's embassy in Oman organized a sports day at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bawshar to mark the National Sports Day. HE Qatar's Ambassador to Oman Ali bin Fahad Al Hajiri participated in the event along with diplomats, embassy staff, a number of accredited ambassadors and diplomats, staff of some accredited Arab embassies to Oman, some Omani citizens and other expats. At the end of the event, memorial gifts were exchanged with directors of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex and HE the ambassador thanked them for their contribution to the success of the event.
