Qatar to Host First Asia Junior Athletics Championship

Incheon, September 28 (QNA) - The Executive Office of the Asian Athletics Association (AAA) announced that the State of Qatar will host the Asian Junior Athletics Championships in Doha in May 2015.      At its meeting on the sidelines of the 2014 Incheon Games, the AAA's meeting adopted formally 2015 Asian Championships, while the Chinese City of Han will host public Asian athletics championship. On the sidelines of the public Asian athletics championship, the meeting of the AAA General Assembly will take place to elect the 2015-2019 AAA Board of Directors. The Asian Marathon Championship is set to be held in Dubai in 2015, whereas Thailand will host 2015 Grand Prix. The meeting briefed on the technical report of the international beach games, which will be held in the city of Phuket, Thailand in 2015. The Asian Athletics Championships will be held for the first time under the theme (athletics Beach games), proposed by Qatar.      Dahlan Al Hamad, President of Qatar Association of Athletic Federation (QAAF) and the President of the AAA, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech during which he expressed his thanks to the Asian Olympic Council and the organizing committee of the Asian Games, on convening the meeting on the sidelines of the Asian Games.      He expressed his thanks to the President of International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Lamine Diack for attending the meeting and supporting the AAA, praising his efforts over the past years to develop the international athletics games in general and Asian one in particular.       He expressed his hope the cooperation and partnership with the IAAF would continue to achieve the common goals, thanking members for their efforts over the past period.
