Qatar Lose for Syria in Asian Qualifiers for World Cup Russia 2018

Kuala Lumpur, August 31 (QNA) - Qatar's first football team has lost their chances to qualify in third place after losing for their Syrian counterpart 3-1 in the match played in Malacca, Malaysia, for Group A matches and in the ninth round of Asian qualifying for the 2018 World Cup. Omar Khreibin and Mahmoud Al Mawas scored for the Syrian team, while Ali Assad scored for Qatar. For the rest of the group matches, South Korea and Iran finished 0-0 in Seoul and China beat Uzbekistan 1-0 at Wuhan Stadium. Iran kept its leading position in the group with 21 points after nine matches, 14 points for South Korea, 12 for Syria and Uzbekistan, 9 for China and 7 for Qatar, Iran has officially qualified for the World Cup. The final round of the group's matches will be held on September 5, where Qatar will play against China in Doha, Iran against Syria in Tehran, and Uzbekistan against South Korea in Tashkent. (QNA)
