Qatar to Play Against Afghanistan in Joint Qualifiers for 2022 World Cup and AFC Cup

Doha, September 04 (QNA) - Qatar will start their first step in defending their AFC Asian Cup title when they meet Afghanistan on Thursday at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium at Al Sadd Sports Club in the second round of the joint qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and 2023 AFC Asian Cup in China. Qatar won the AFC Asian Cup for the first time in its history, which was held in the UAE earlier this year after beating Japan (3-1) in the final. Thursday's confrontation with Afghanistan marks the real start of preparations for Qatar 2022 World Cup, which is being held for the first time in Qatar in the Middle East. Qatar is in Group E, which also includes Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Oman and India. Qatar will meet India at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on September 10. (QNA)
