Qatar Prepares to Host World Gymnastics Championship in October

Doha, June 15 (QNA) - The State of Qatar is preparing to host the World Gymnastics Championship in October for the first time in the Middle East with the largest participation in the history of the tournament. The World Gymnastics Championships will be an exceptional tournament in the history of world gymnastics in terms of the accuracy of the organization, the public and media follow-up, and the great success of the State of Qatar," said Ali Al-Hitmi, President of Qatar Gymnastics Federation. He confirmed that Doha is fully ready for now to organize a distinctive tournament, pointing out that the committees working in the tournament is doing their best and that the tournament logo was designed. He stressed that the World Championship Organizing Committee had provided all the requirements and equipment requested by the delegation of the International Federation, who visited Doha recently to see the latest preparations for Doha to host the tournament. He added that the delegation of the International Federation was completely reassured about the facilities of the world-class sporting excellence and the work and arrangements carried out by the Organizing Committee in terms of preparations and plans. The International Gymnastics Federation (IAF) has named the State of Qatar to host 48th edition of 2018. Qatar was elected unanimously with 41 votes representing all the members of the Advisory Board and the Executive Bureau of the International Gymnastics Federation who attended the Executive Office meeting in Kuwait in 2014, Qatar is the first Arab country to receive this honour.
