Qatar Stars League to Hold Qatar 2020 Cup in January

Doha, July 16 (QNA) - The Qatar Stars League has decided to hold the Qatar 2020 Cup in January with the participation of top four clubs from the 2018-19 season. The top four sides are Al Sadd, Al Duhail, Al Sailiya and Al Rayyan. The decision came after coordination of the concerned authorities to choose a suitable time for the tournament and after studying the calendar of the new season, it was decided to stage the event in January. The decision has been made considering the busy schedule of the national team and that of the clubs who will also feature in the 2020 AFC Champions League. The selection of the January date has been finalized to give the tournament more space in terms of marketing and promotion and to ensure coverage from the media in a distinctive manner. The format of the tournament remains the same. The four sides play the semifinals and then the final. (QNA)
