Qatari Players facing Strong Matches in 6Red World Cup

Doha, January 12 (QNA) - Qatari players will face matches of varying difficulties tomorrow Saturday, in the first round of the Qatar 6Red World Cup. The first edition of the competition will conclude on January 15, with 54 of the top players participating this year. The draw that was held today saw all six Qatari players fall in balanced groups. The draw was held today in the attendance of President of International Billiards & Snooker Federation Mubarak Al Khayarain and the participating 32 players. It was conducted under the supervision of head of the technical committee of the championship Shoeib Khan, and head of the competitions committee Ihab Anwar. The draw focused on avoiding any of the top-eight players facing each other. Al Khayarain, who is also the head of the organizing committee, told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the first round indicate much stronger matches in the rounds that begin tomorrow. He added that the levels of all the participating players are to close to call, which increases the strength of the competition and makes it unpredictable. He also viewed the eight groups as balanced, noting that there are 26 ranked players participating in the group stage. He welcomed all the participating delegations to Doha, wishing them a strong showing and good memories after the conclusion of the competition. He stressed that the organizing committee was keen on providing all the capabilities necessary for the participants to perform to their potential. He stressed also on the importance of this edition of the competition given it is the first, noting that things were going well so far especially in terms of the keenness of top-ranked players to participate. He expressed confidence also that the Qatari players will give a strong show, adding that he was optimistic they will achieve good results and reach the latter rounds of the competition. (QNA)
