Qatari Players Reach Second Round of PSA Men's World Championship in Doha

Doha, November 09 (QNA) - Qatari players Abdulla Mohamed Al Tamimi and Syed Amjad Azlan have made great achievements to reach the second round of the PSA Men's World Championship being held in Doha. Al Tamimi qualified for the second round of the PSA Men's World Championship as he upset French World No.14 Gregoire Marche. Al Tamimi got his first major win on home soil as he defeated Marche 11-6, 11-9, 7-11, 11-9 to reach the last 32. The 24-year-old was sublime in the opening two games as he took a 2-0 lead, with Marche cutting a frustrated figure as he struggled to get the ball deep into the back corners. Qatar's Syed Amjad Azlan is also through to the second round after beating Spain's Iker Pajares Bernabeu in their clash in Doha. The Spaniard had been winning the match 2-1 at the time, but an unfortunate injury to the Qatari, which Pajares accidentally contributed to, meant that the home hope was unable to continue. As a result, he moves through to the second round, because of the opponent inflicted injury, and therefore by the rules, has to forfeit the match. Syed Azlan Amjad beat Iker Pajares Bernabeu 3-2: 8-11, 12-10, 4-11, 2-0. Other players made it through to the second round of the Men's World Championships. Egyptian Mohamed ElShorbagy got his tournament under way with a 3-0 victory over Frenchman Victor Crouin. ElShorbagy kickstarted his attempts to win a second World Championship title with a 11-8, 11-6, 11-7 victory over Crouin. Egypt's No.2 seed Tarek Momen defeated Germany's Raphael Kandra to qualify for at the 2019-20 PSA Men's World Championship in Doha. After a lengthy delay of almost half an hour, the Ibrahim hobbled back on to court and won the next two points to claim a shock victory, and he will play former World No.1 James Willstrop next. Englands Declan James was the only player to come back from two games down on the opening day of action as the World No.22 avoided an upset against World No.58 Vikram Malhotra, and he will line up against No.5 seed Simon Rosner in the last 32. Switzerland's Nicolas Mueller qualified for the second round after defeating Austria's Aqeel Rehman. Nicolas Mueller beat Aqeel Rehman 3-0: 11-6, 11-9, 11-7 (33m). Egyptian Mohamed Abouelghar returned from injury with a terrific performance against Pakistan's Tayyab Aslam, as he reached the second round of the World Championships. Mohamed Abouelghar defeated Tayyab Aslam 3-0: 11-5, 11-4, 11-7 (25m). Hong Kong's Leo Au is into the second round of the Mens World Championship after a convincing performance in his last 64 clash with United States No.1 Todd Harrity. Leo Au defeated Todd Harrity 3-0: 16-14, 11-7, 11-3 (36m). Round two of the 2019-20 PSA Men's World Championship begins on Saturday. (END)
