QFA Announces League, Local Competitions Dates

Doha, May 16 (QNA) - Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced that the new season 2018/2019 will start on Aug 3 and will be preceded by Super Cup, which will be held between the winners of Qatar Cup and HH the Amir Cup on Aug 1. QFA also said that the second division season will kick off on September 19, while Qatargas U23 League will start on September 4. The start of the season comes early in order to give the Qatari national football team the opportunity to prepare for the next year entitlements, which will start with Asian Championship from January 5th to February 1st in the UAE, in addition to Qatar's participation in Copa America in Brazil in June 2019, the first participation of an Arab national team in this tournament. The current season will be concluded by HH the Amir Cup final between Al Duhail and Al Rayyan on Saturday evening at Khalifa International Stadium. (QNA)
