QFA President : Brave Show by Qatar National Football Team

Riyadh, November 26 (QNA) - Qatar Football Association (QFA) President Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al -Thani lauded the players courage after Qatar on Wednesday stunned hosts Saudi Arabia to win the Gulf Cup. Saudi Arabia took the lead through Saud Kariri in the 16th minute in the final but Qatar hit back just two minutes later through Al Mahdi Ali. In the second half, Khouki Bualem deflected a ferocious volley past Saudi Arabi goalkeeper to score the winning goal in what was the 58th minute. "First of all, I would like to congratulate HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and HH Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al -Thani on this brilliant achievement by Qatar," QFA President said at King Fahd International Stadium. "I have to say it was a brave show by our boys," he said. "They fought all the way and never looked like giving in to pressure. I am sure the fans will be thrilled with this win," QFA President added. "It was a very important event for us and I am pleased with the way we played this event. We have more events coming up that are crucial for our team," QFA President said. "I am sure the boys will keep working hard, just as we did today. We wont stop here," he stressed. Qatars next big assignment is the 2015 Asian Cup in Australia, he added. (QNA)
