QOC's Annual Fitness and Health Program to Kick Off Thursday

Doha, December 23 (QNA) - As part of its Qatar Active Campaign, the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) will organize its annual 'Physical Fitness and Health' program on December 25 and 26 at the Doha Corniche and Aspire Park. The 2014 edition of the program will be organized in coordination with Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar and Abbott Nutrition. The program includes a series of fitness and medical checks, by using BMI indicator and other vital tools to measure physical fitness, weight, length, fat and flexibility of the muscles. Additionally, the program also includes aerobic fitness test to measure the ability to work for longer periods, depending on efficiency of the respiratory system Mohammad Essa Al Fadhala, Director of the QOC Public Relations and Marketing Department and Executive Director of Qatar Active Campaign, said that the key objective of the QOCs drive is to promote health and sport awareness among individuals, and to enhance the governing sport body's relationship with the local society by making sport an integral part of their daily life. The Qatar Active Campaign features some 30 activities per year, being held throughout the year. They include sport and entertainment activities and are targeting all male and female age categories, with specific activities for people with special needs. (QNA)
