Rostami wins Iran’s 2nd gold in Islamic Countries Games’ Greco-Roman

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s 72kg athlete Mohammad Reza Rostami won gold for the Iranian Greco-Roman wrestling team, in 2021 Konya Islamic Countries Solidarity Games on Friday. The final and qualification matches of the first five weights of the Greco-Roman wrestling are being held as of 7 pm Friday, in Konya, Turkey. In 72-kg weight Mohammad-Reza Rostami in the first round beat Shahrouz Uchilov, from Tajikistan, 9-nil. In his second and semi-final match versus Mirza Bak Ramatof from Uzbekistan Rostami won 7-4 to reach the final. In the final, too, he faced Ulu Ghanizadeh from Azerbaijan Republic in a very tight and tough match, whom he beat 9-8 to win the games’ gold medal. In 97-kg, Mehdi Bali after his rest lot in the first round, bat Safar Aref Niftoleiev from Azerbaijan 10-0. In the next and semi-final match he lost the match 7-3 versus Uzur Juldushibkov, the Asian champion, to lead him to the qualification match.
