Russia wins gold in 4X100m relay at FINA World Swimming Championships in Canada

MOSCOW, December 7. /TASS/. Russian swimmers won on gold on Tuesday night in men’s 4X100m freestyle relay at the 2017 FINA World Swimming Championships, held in Canada’s Windsor between December 6 and 11. The quartet of Russian swimmers, namely Nikita Lobintsev, Mikhail Vekovishchev, Vladimir Morozov and Aleksandr Popkov finished the distance to win the gold with the result of 3 minutes 5.9 seconds. The silver went to French swimmers Clement Mignon, Jeremy Stravius, Jordan Pothain and Mehdy Metella (3 minutes 7.35 seconds) and the bronze to Australia’s Brayden McCarthy, Daniel Smith, David Morgan and Tommaso D'Orsogna (3 minutes 7.76 seconds). A total of 46 sets of medals are up for grabs at the 13th FINA World Swimming Championships in Windsor. Over 900 athletes from 160 countries are competing at the current bi-annual event. At the previous championship in Doha two years ago, Brazilian swimmers finished first in the overall medals standings having won a total of seven golds. Read more
