Russian wrestling legend praises Azerbaijan`s sports policy

Baku, October 15, AzerTAc. Russian wrestling legend, three-time Olympic, six-time world and six-time European champion Buvaisar Saitiev has hailed sports policy in Azerbaijan. “The government of Azerbaijan attaches special importance to developing sports,” he told Azerbaijan`s deputy Minister of Youth and Sport Ismayil Ismayilov as they met in Baku. “I`m happy that all conditions are created in Azerbaijan for the development of sports, particularly wrestling.” “The government attention to sports, the organization of high-profile international events, including European Games once more proves that Azerbaijan is a strong state,” said Mr. Saitiev. “I follow the performance of Azerbaijani wrestlers. The growing number of medals won by your sportsmen in world and European championships, and Olympic Games is a strong signal of Azerbaijan`s development,” he added. Deputy Minister Ismayilov highlighted the preparations for the inaugural European Games to be held in Baku in 2015. First Vice-President of Azerbaijan`s Wrestling Federation Namig Aliyev hailed President Ilham Aliyev`s attention to sports, particularly wrestling. Following the meeting Mr. Saitiev visited several Baku 2015 venues.
