SC Security Committee Celebrates Graduation of 2022 World Cup Security Leadership Qualification Program Attendees

Doha, September 26 (QNA) - The security committee at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) on Thursday celebrated the graduation of the attendees of the 2022 World Cup security leadership qualification program (silver level), which was held at the officers club at the General Directorate of Civil Defense, lasted for one month and was attended by 22 officers involved in securing the 2022 World Cup. The graduation was attended by head of competitive establishments unit Major General Ali Mohammed Al Rashid, head of the rehabilitation and training unit in the SC security committee Major Fahad Saeed Al Subaey, Senior Manager at Project STADIA Falah Abdulla Al Dosari, Vice President University of Southern Mississippi Gordon Cannon and the program lecturers. At the beginning of the ceremony, Al Dosari congratulated the graduates for passing the silver level to be international experts after obtaining the international specialized certificate in security and safety of sports events, accredited by (INTERPOL) within the project (STADIA), which is one of the pioneering projects, established by INTERPOL in 2012 with funding from the State of Qatar. Its aim is to serve the countries of the world wishing to host major sporting events. Al Dosari said the project has implemented many programs benefiting the organization's 194 Member States to qualify their security personnel through workshops, courses and training programs. He added graduates receive an international professional certification for safety and security at major international sporting events, with the aim of fostering knowledge and encouraging innovation, to turn training into operational practice for international sporting events. He added that the knowledge management system within the STADIA project has transformed the work and cooperation mechanism of law enforcement agencies at the level of the State of Qatar, regionally and internationally. The knowledge management system is the first online platform for the exchange of police and security information for major events, and the creation of a virtual network to exchange information and experiences on security challenges and optimal solutions. Captain Abdelrahman Al Suweidi of the security committee's rehabilitation and training unit said the number of participants in the course reached 22 officers, from the Ministry of Interior and Lekhwiya force, in addition to officers from other countries. They all received advanced training courses related to the monitoring of sporting events and safety management and participated in specialized courses to deal with the challenges of risk management and evacuation challenges during major international sporting events. The attendees participated in a number of other specialized courses and attended a number of lectures and workshops, in cooperation with various entities. Head of the rehabilitation and training unit in the SC security committee Major Fahad Saeed Al Subaey stressed the importance of the program for officers of the competitive establishments unit in 2022 World Cup and their assistants who also passed the bronze level program last year. The program included three levels, the first was in cooperation with the University of South Mississippi on securing sports facilities and major sporting events, dedicated to the State of Qatar with the participation of some other countries interested in the sports side to exchange experiences. The second level is a diploma of safety and security and the third level is practical field exercises in cooperation with the Spanish and Portuguese police. He added that the program aims to qualify a cadre of distinguished Qatari officers to lead the tasks of securing the sports facilities of the 2022 World Cup where they were selected according to accurate security standards and are trained according to the latest training systems globally. Al Subaey said the graduates of the program have obtained a silver level license in sports events insurance, which requires continuous training in order to renew it annually. Participants in the program have received integrated training in developing leadership skills, maintaining public order, major sporting events and securing stadiums, he said. Vice President University of Southern Mississippi Gordon Cannon praised the Qatari experience with regards to the security preparations for this major sports event. He added the skills, experience and information provided to secure the stadiums in these courses exceeds what is required of these graduates. (QNA)
