School Mini Olympics preparations underway

Manama, Jan. 17 (BNA): Preparations for the sixth edition of the School Mini Olympics, organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), is now underway. The event is brought up in cooperation with Education Ministry and will see more than 20 sports in total with schools from all over the nation are expected to be in the fray. Project Directorate of BOC has already the first coordination meeting with Education Ministry and the private schools to discuss a number of issues related to the organisation of this edition event. During the meeting, 22 teams and individual sports were confirmed, with initial registration starting on January 17. Deadline for accepting entries is February 7, while the technical meeting will be held on February 17. It was agreed that no player will be allowed to register after the specified period as the schedule for the sports competition are to be prepared. Passes for each player taking part will be issued as 12 players are eligible to represent each of the teams in the football championship, including eight on the field. The facilities for the mini Olympics were also approved, namely the three halls of Isa Sports City, Khalifa Sports City Hall, Umm Al Hassam, Bahrain International Circuit (cars and bicycles) and the Polytechnic University tennis court. Mariam Abdul Jabbar from the IT directorate gave a detailed report on how to use the electronic registration method.
