SEA Games: Myanmar Aiming Fof Bronze

Jakarta, Nov 21 (ANTARA) - Myanmar`s U-23 team is aiming for a bronze medal in the 26th SEA Games when they play against Vietnam at the Bung Karno Sports Stadium in Jakarta on Monday (Nov 21). "We still have to play for a bronze medal and tomorrow (Monday) we hope the result will be different from the draw against Vietnam in the qualifications," Myanmar`s coach Stefan Hansson said here on Sunday. Myanmar failed to advance to the finals after it lost to the defending champion Malaysia 0-1. Meanwhile, Indonesia outclassed Vietnam 2-0 in the semifinals on Saturday (Nov 19). Host Indonesia will play against Malaysia for a gold medal in the finals on Monday (Nov 21). Hansson said Myanmar must pay high price for its defeat to Malaysia because it lost concentration in the last minutes of the second round. He said his team thought of extra time but forgot that they had a little time to finish the match. "This is painful. We lost in the last minutes of the match. We knew we could defeat Malaysia if there was extra time. But our players continued to focus (their attention) and would not let Malaysia make a goal," he said. "This is an important lesson. But I hope the players could play for the Myanmar team in the upcoming SEA Games and could benefit from this match," he said. Myanmar will host the 27th Sea Games in 2013.
