SEA Games: Philippines Prevent Clean Sweep By Malaysia In Equestrian

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 (Bernama) -- Filipino Syquia Colin John Collins prevented Malaysia from making a clean sweep in equestrian's eventing competition in the individual show jumping event of the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games (KL2017),at 3Q Equestrian Centre in Rawang, near here, on Monday. The 47-year-old, astride Adventure E, clocked the fastest time of 37.63 seconds without making a single mistake in the jump-off to outclass the defending champion, Malaysia's Sharmini Christina Ratnasingham. Sharmini Christina, astride Arcado L, took the silver with a time of 41.30s without penalty given while Malaysia's equestrian ace, Mohd Qabil Ambak Mahamad Fathil claimed the bronze with his horse 3Q Qalisya with a time of 41.66s In the cast of five riders, Brunei's Pengiran Mohd Nasir fiished in fourth place and Singapore's Catherine Chew last. Malaysia won three out of four gold medals at stake in the eventing competition through Quzandria Nur Mahamad Fathil in individual dressage; team dressage and team show jumping competition. Besides the gold medals, Malaysia also claimed the silver medal through Mohd Qabil Ambak in the individual dressage. -- BERNAMA
