Season End Showjumping, Dressage Championship kicks off

Manama, Apr. 17 (BNA): Under the patronage of Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) President Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa and sponsorship of Dilmunia, the federation organised today the Season End Showjumping and Dressage (taming) Championship, on the grounds of the Military Sports Federation in Al Raffa, Sakhir. A variety of Bahrain’s best riders competed in the different contests of the two-day championship. Female rider Marilla Furod and her steed Notrix won the juniors taming contest with 192 points, while Gabriella Scobis and Amy Keane won the second and third places respectively, gaining 187.5 and 185.5 points. As for the juniors primary level contest, Marilla was also able to bag the first place, scoring 134.5 points ahead of Mohammed Dadallah and Gabriella, who came in second and third place respectively with the scores of 134 and 133 points. The remaining contests of the championship will continue Saturday starting at 9 am. As scheduled, the adults dressage contest will be the first event of the day, including two primary stages. It will be followed by the open showjumping contest (juniors and advanced). The open showjumping contests will include the first cumulative points contest with the joker barriers of 95 – 115 cintemetres height and course speed of 350 metre/minute. The second contest will include barriers of 120 – 130 cintemetres height and course speed of 350/metre speed. As for the third contest (six bars), barriers will be 105 – 115 centemetres high.
