Shaikh Khalid attends Arab Athletics Championship

Manama, Apr. 24 (BNA): First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport, President of the West Asia Athletics Federation and President of the Bahrain Athletics Association Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa has attended the competitions of the 19th Arab Athletics Championship (Men and Women), held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. President of the Saudi Athletics Association Prince Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Saud, Chairperson of the Women Sport Committee Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, officials and Arab athletics associations also attended the competitions held at the Khalifa Sport City. Shaikh Khalid and his son, Shaikh Faisal bin Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa encouraged Bahraini athletes in order to achieve honourable results for the Kingdom. Shaikh Khalid said the current edition of the Arab Athletics Championship will enhance solidarity and rapprochement among Arab countries and peoples. Shaikh Khalid met Prince Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Saud, the President of the Saudi Athletics Association, and discussed with him the best means to enhance cooperation between the athletics associations in the two countries, highlighting the steady growth of the Bahraini-Saudi relations in all fields. Prince Nawaf lauded the excellent organisation of the championship, affirming Bahrain’s leading role in hosting Arab sporting events.
