Shaikh Khalid praises Bahrain's strong MMA status

Las Vegas, July 10 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, the founder of KHK MMA watched the battles of the Ultimate Fighting Championship UFC200 in the presence of Dana White, President of the mixed martial arts organization Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and Lorenzo Fertitta, CEO of UFC. His Highness praised the efforts of the organization in organizing the tournaments, wishing them further success in upcoming tournaments. The Kingdom of Bahrain has renewed its strong presence in the Championships organized by the UFC, through the participation of the Khalid bin Hamad Mixed Martial Arts Team KHK MMA, with professional fighter Frankie Edgar facing Brazilian fighter Jose Aldo yesterday as part of the of the UFC200 battles. On this occasion, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa praised the strong technical performance Frankie displayed during the main fight against Brazilian fighter, Jose Aldo. He stressed that Frankie fought ferociously inside the ring and strengthening the position of the Kingdom of Bahrain through KHK MMA, between the countries of this sport. "Bahrain has succeeded in proving to everyone that it has evolved in the MMA sport in record time, thanks to the wise leadership giving support to the youth and the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Nasser Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, to develop the sports movement in the kingdom, which clearly reflected on Bahrain making MMA achievements in various Asian and Global tournaments. These contributed to Bahrain gaining international attention through its strong presence in the sport." HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad congratulates fighter Fahad Abdulrazaq His Highness, Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa met members of KHK MMA for amateur fighting where he congratulated fighter Fahad Abdulrazaq for achieving third position in the third edition of World Championships of Amateur MMA, organized by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) held from July 5 to 10 in Las Vegas. His Highness praised the result which opened the doors for a more aggressive competition to achieve first place in the upcoming tournaments. These will strengthen Bahrain’s status in the world of amateurs MMA fighting, His Highness noted and also praised the rest of the team who were not successful in the Championship with better luck in upcoming participations. The excitement of the bout lasted for 5 rounds The fighter from Khalid bin Hamad Mixed Martial Arts Team KHK MMA, Frankie Edgar, was not successful in snatching the Championship Featherweight belt the Ultimate Fighting Championship UFC200, despite giving a powerful performance lasting over 5 rounds but ending up in favor of Brazilian fighter Jose Aldo. Edgar entered the ring in the first round with strength and managed to control the pace, he was able to do the same with high spirits in the second round. By the third round, Aldo became more defensive and using speed to his advantage enabling him to change the pace of the bout and eventually winning the title. UFC 200 decorated in gold The Ultimate Fighting Championship UFC200 was unique due to the organizing committee’s keenness on making the celebration of the 200th edition special. They coloired the inside and out of the ring with gold, changing the color of fighting ring’s ground, the fighter corner’s went from red and white to black and gold. In addition, they changed stadium halls and stairs to gold. The Expo activities continues with the attention of young fans The activities of the UFC Fan Expo organized by the UFC are resuming alongside the UFC International Fight Week and the World Amateur Championships organized by the IMMAF in cooperation with the UFC and UFC200 championships. The exhibition witnessed a huge crowd of MMA fans and enthusiasts who enjoyed the display of equipment, clothing, combat performances and also performances presented by young fans which won the attention of the crowd. Curtain closes on World Amateur Championship today The curtains will go down today with the finals of the World Amateur Championship IMMAF in cooperation with the UFC. The final bouts will be held, following which will be the crowning ceremony of the first three positions. This includes the Kingdom of Bahrain which has taken one of top three positions through the participation of KHK MMA with fighter Fahad Abdulrazaq capturing third place. Egypt and Jordan join the Federation with discussions of holding two open Championships in South Africa and Czech Republic The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) officially approved Egypt and Jordan as members in the Federation. This came during a general meeting of the Federation held in Las Vegas during the Amateur World Championships bouts held from July 5-10. The meeting agenda included discussions on the holding of the Amateur Championship in South Africa and the European Open Championship in the Czech Republic.
