Shaikh Nasser congratulates UAE vice-president on Epsom Derby win

Manama, Jun. 3 (BNA): HM the King’s Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has congratulated UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, on winning the Epsom Derby, Britain's richest horse race, and the most prestigious of the five Classics in the country.  In a statement following the historic victory, HH Shaikh Nasser said that the UAE’s equestrian sport is making steadfast strides towards more progress and glory thanks to the constant support of HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid, whom he described as being among the most prominent knights across the GCC and the world and the most successful at various sport gatherings. HH Shaikh Nasser hailed HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s “unique” achievements, and constant keenness to raise his country’s banners at international gatherings, expressing confidence that he will attain more victories. HH Shaikh Nasser voiced pride in the UAE vice-president’s exploit, lauding the efforts exerted by the Godolphin stable’s work team, and their keenness to implement HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s directives and instructions. “Masar” of Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s Godolphin stable stormed to victory in the 1.5-mile race under jockey William Buick in Saturday's Epsom Derby, as trainer Charlie Appleby earned his first win in the race. HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid, who was accompanied by Dubai Crown Prince, HH Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and H.H. Shaikha Al Jalila bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, received the coveted prize of the 230-year-old race. HH Shaikh Mohammed hailed the outstanding performance of Godolphin, reaffirming their determination to add more international accolades to their rich track record of achievements.
