Showjumping Championship begins

Manama, Nov. 22 (BNA): Under the patronage of Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF)'s president HH Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, the federation organised the opening championship of the showjumping season 2015/2016 at the Military Sports Federation Field in Raffa, Sakhir, in cooperation with the Arabian Horse Company. In the third contest of the advanced category, rider Ahmed Mansoor on his steed Edwardo was crowned as the champion, finishing a flawless round in 38.55 seconds. The contest included hurdle height of 115-125 CM and course speed of 350 metre/minute. Riders Sami Ghazwan and Shaikh Abdulla Al Khalifa came in the second and third place, after completing the course in 33.89 seconds and 35.67 seconds respectively with four flaws each. As for the first juniors contest, young rider Mayoof Al Rumaihi bagged the first place after completing the course in 52.11 seconds. The second and third positions of the contest, which included hurdle height of 80-90 CM and course speed of 300 metre/minute, went to riders Amy Keane and Hussain Dadallah, who finished in 52.11 seconds and 56.82 seconds, respectively. The second juniors contest consisted of hurdle height of 95-105 CM and course speed of 300 metres/minute (Two Phase). Rider Ahmed Al Hashil on his steed Thunderbolt won the first place, finishing in 30.75, ahead of Amy Keane, who won both the second and third places, finishing in 30.10 and 31.20 with a total of eight flaws. The first and second advanced contests were dominated by Saleem Ali and Abbas Yousif. Both finished in 25.28 seconds and 42.75, respectively. The first contest consisted of hurdle height of 80-95 CM and course speed of 350 metre/minute, while the second contest included hurdle height of 110 CM and course speed of 350 metre/minute.
