SIC Will Host Inaugural Fia Formula 4 SEA Championship

KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 (Bernama) -- Sepang International Circuit (SIC) will host the opening leg of the inaugural 2016 FIA Formula 4 South East Asia Championship (F4SEA) from August 6-7. Triple A chairman Peter Thompson said they have made an indepth plan for the race for the past three years and carried out an intensive marketing for the last six months to promote the race globally. Triple A or Asian Autosport Action Group is a Malaysian motor racing team which is the organiser and also the promoter of the racing events. "F4SEA is not only about developing drivers, it is also about progressing Malaysian engineering talent," he said in a statement Tuesday. "Our Malaysian technicians have been training in France and its fantastic to see them back in Sepang, with the new cars which they have proudly assembled from the ground up," Thompson added. Sharing his views is Triple A managing director Firhat Mokhzani who said that organising the event was a huge milestone for them to propel Asian motorsports to greater height. "All the months of hard work and meticulous coordination with our chassis and engine partners have culminated in the arrival of the cars this weekend," he said. Prior to the race, the first collective tests will commence at SIC on June 29-30. The race, certified by the International Automobile Federation (FIA), is designed to develop Asia’s motorsport talent through a cost-effective programme and also the first step on FIA’s streamlined ladder to develop professional careers in the sport. -- BERNAMA
