Sime Darby LPGA Championship: Ha Na Surges To Take One Stroke Lead On Second Day

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- South Korea's Jang Ha Na surged from joint seven placing to top the leaderboard after the second round of the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia Golf Championships at the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club, here Friday. Ha Na had a blemish free round Friday after carding six birdies for a score of six-under 65 to follow-up Thursday's 67 for a total score of 10-under 132. "Today's (Friday) round was really good because no bogey today (Friday)...I'm a bit more confident about my shots. "I think today (Friday) my tee shots lied perfectly on the fairway and the putting is perfect too," she said. Meanwhile, overnight joint leader, Lin Xi Yu is trailing by just one stroke. After an impressive 65 Thursday, Xi Yu shot four birdies but dropped a lone bogey at the par-three 15th hole for a 68 score. She noted that she could have scored better results Friday but missed three birdie chances in her first nine. "I missed like three birdies in a row. Then I kept telling myself that I'm putting pretty good. I made a really long putt for birdie on the 14th hole," said Xi Yu. Overnight joint leader Alison Lee of the United States shared third place with former champion Tseng Yani (Taiwan) and Park Inbee (South Korea) with identical two- day score of 134. Alison, who was leading the pace with 10-under score until the 14th hole, seem to be frustrated with two consecutive bogeys on the 15th and 16th holes, which changed her position. For current world number one, Inbee, she was satisfied with her game because her putting had helped to get a good score Friday. "It was much better putting day than yesterday (Thursday). Made a lot of birdies but could have been better if I didn't make three bogeys. "Yesterday (Thursday) was a really bad putting day...Putting is really the key to success on every golf course and especially this golf course," said the 2012 Sime Darby LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Malaysia champion. -- BERNAMA
