Slow Start For National Cycling Trio In Poland

KUALA LUMPUR, March 1 (Bernama) -- The nation's cycling trio opens the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Poland with a slow finish at the 15th place in the team sprint qualifying game Thursday morning. Surprisingly, Azizulhasni Awang, Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom and Muhammad Fadhil Mohd Zonis merely recorded 45.099s while failing to break their own 43.934s national record during the last Asian Games 2018. Initially, they aimed for the eighth place for the team sprint qualifying event but ended up in the second last spot and failed to progress to the next round. According to the championships official website https://www.uci.org, the event was dominated by the Dutch team which recorded 41.923s in the final followed by France with 42.889s. Meanwhile, Azizulhasni and Shah Firdaus will be performing in keirin event at 9.30 pm local time. -- BERNAMA
