Sports Minister Affirms Commitment to Promoting Qatar as World Sports Capital

Doha, July 26 (QNA) - In line with the strategic objective of the Ministry of Youth and Sports on the development of the sports sector, HE Minister of Youth and Sports Salah bin Ghanim Al-Ali, paid a visit to Al-Ahli Sports Club during which he met with HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the club, Khaled Shabib Vice-President, Sheikh Salman bin Faisal Al-Thani Football Supervisor and the members of the Board of Directors. During the visit, there was a discussion about the major challenges facing sports clubs in Qatar, and the role of the ministry in this regard, as well as the role of sports clubs in facing those challenges, where HE the Minister of Youth and Sports stressed the Ministry's role in providing support and removing the obstacles with a commitment to corporate governance and the development of monitoring, evaluation and accountability systems in order to create healthy sports environment at the levels of culture, practice, professionalism or infrastructure, as well as to promote the country's position as the world sport capital, particularly in relation to right to host the 2022 World Cup.
