Squash Player Abdullah Al Tamimi To Carry Qatari Flag in ASIAD 2018

Jakarta, August 17 (QNA) - Squash star and Aspire Academy Graduate Abdullah Al Tamimi has been selected to carry the Flag of the State of Qatar in the opening ceremony of the 18th Asian Games (ASIAD-2018) slated for Saturday in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta. The State of Qatar is represented in the event by 222 athletes, including 29 female athletes, Chairman of the Olympic Committee HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani heads Qatari delegation. "I am very excited to carry my country's flag to the forefront of the Qatari delegation at the opening ceremony of the Asian Games," said Abdullah Al Tamimi. "I am proud and proud to represent my country in this huge event, and I would like to thank everyone who stood by me and supported me to reach this," he added calling on the Qatari sports fans to watch the ceremony and cheer for the Qatari team. In 2012, squash player Abdulla Al Tamimi topped the world U-19 ranking of the International Squash Federation. Has won a number of important titles, including the U-19 Qatar Open in 2012, the U-19 Dutch Open Championship in 2013, and the same year he took fourth place in the World Youth Championship held in Poland in July. Al Tamimi continued to progress confidently and last year he made his best international rankings in the world, ranking 37th place after reaching the second round of the 2017 World Championships in Manchester. He recently climbed to the 28th place on the world after winning the 2018 Malaysian Open in July. The Athlete will compete for the Qatari squash team at the Asian Games on August 23 in Jakarta.
