S.SUMATRA HOLDS SEA GAMES FAREWELL PARTY

Palembang, S Sumatra, Nov 22 (ANTARA) - South Sumatra provincial government will hold a farewell party for SEA Games athletes and officials at Jakabaring dining hall in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Monday night. The party as a tradition at every SEA Games would be also be attended by hundreds of athletes and a number of officials. At that farewell party, the athletes would wear their training uniforms while the officials and other guests in their gowns for women and batik for men. The Jakabaring Dining Hall at the time would turn into a party e with colorful balloons on every chair and over the room. South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin then extended his sincere gratitude to the athletes and officials who had participated in the 26 Southeast Asian Games from November 11 - 22, 2011. The governor at the same time also offered his apology for any shortcoming and weakness during the sports event in Palembang. In the run up to the closing of the SEA Games, traffic in Palembang city will be changed starting from this afternoon. South Sumatra Police spokesman Senior Commissioner Sabaruddin Ginting said starting from Tuesday afternoon traffic in Palembang would be changed from the normal days. "The SEA Games will be closed tonight and therefore traffic will be regulated for the smoothness of vehicles heading to Sriwijaya Jakabaring sport stadium," Sabaruddin said. According to him, traffic from Charitas hospital junction would be diverted and vehicles to Jakabaring sport stadium would be stopped at Bank SumselBabel. Sabaruddin said the change of traffic was to anticipate congestion in the run up to the closing of the SEA Games, participated in by contingents from 11 countries. He expressed hope that the closing of that big sports event would run smoothly and successfully like the opening ceremony.
